Coach Gabriela

Coach Gabriela’s journey in martial arts began at the age of 12, when she discovered that combat sports were not just a hobby, they were part of who she is. After eight years of training Taekwondo, she earned her black belt and at the age of 17 she began teaching children.
Her passion for martial arts only grew stronger. Gabriela expanded her training to include Muay Thai and boxing for 5 years, sharpening her striking skills and mental toughness. In 2020, she discovered Brazilian JiuJitsu, a discipline that would forever change the course of her life.
Within just two years of training, Gabriela comes from an earlier generation of martial artists, a time when men and women often competed together. Her first Jiu-Jitsu competition under Professor Orlando was against a male opponent. Without hesitation, she accepted. In that tournament, she made history by submitting four times (male opponent) an achievement that marked the beginning of a remarkable competitive career.
Today, Gabriela is multiple time Pan-American Champion, a World Championship Medalist, and proudly ranked among the top female competitors in the world.
Beyond her own success, Gabriela’s greatest passion lies in teaching. With a unique ability to connect with children through discipline and love, she has guided many young and adult students, on and off the mats. She believes that Jiu-Jitsu has the power to transform lives, building confidence, respect, and focus in every child who steps onto the mat.
Gabriela is also a proud mother of Caleb, an active competitor himself and a living example of balance between the school and sport. Together, they represent the true spirit of Jiu-Jitsu: family, strength, and continuous growth

Coach Ian

Coach Ian’s martial arts journey began at just seven years old, when he first stepped onto the mat to train in traditional Isshin Ryu Karate. From an early age, he developed a deep respect for discipline, focus, and hard work, values that have guided him throughout his life.
Growing up, Ian continued to sharpen his competitive edge through folkstyle wrestling, where he learned the importance of resilience and mental toughness. As an adult, he expanded his knowledge across multiple combat systems, including Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Doce Pares Eskrima, building a well-rounded foundation in both striking and self-defense.
At the age of 35, Coach Ian discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and instantly found his passion. Since then, he has fully dedicated himself to training and teaching the art, inspiring students to push their limits and develop both confidence and humility on the mats.
Beyond martial arts, Coach Ian continues to challenge himself in every aspect of life. A U.S. Army combat veteran, he embodies discipline, service, and perseverance. He also holds an MBA from Montclair State University (2022), demonstrating his commitment to excellence both inside and outside the academy.
Coach Ian brings heart, experience, and leadership to every class, motivating students to not only train harder but to become stronger individuals in life.
